It is tempting to say that every single person who has ever been to Niseko Hirafu has been to Seico Mart at least once. Seico Mart is a Hokkaido institution, with similar small "Konbini" markets throughout Hokkaido. Niseko Hirafu's Seico Mart is the busiest Seico Mart in Hokkaido, in large part because it occupies one of the best spots in the center of the village, near the traffic signal at the intersection of 343 & 631 (the road that leads up to the Alpen Hotel and the quad ace lifts). Seico Mart is renowned for their imported wheat bread (not common in Japan), fresh fruits and vegetables, and extensive wine offerings, all in addition to more traditional Japanese "Konbini" fare like "Onigiri", "Bento", and the like. Seico Mart also has a mailbox, a pay telephone, and an ATM (although to date this ATM only accepts Japanese bank cards... take your foreign card into the post office in Kutchan to withdraw cash). |
