Amazing food and atmosphere is consistently one of the things people remember most about their Niseko holiday, but for all of the cozy little izakayas, ramen houses, and yakitori joints, there are precious few places to enjoy top notch fine dining.

If you've been around more than a few years, you remember an incredible little French restaurant in Kutchan called Bistrot le Cochon. Everyone who has eaten there missed it dearly and wondered what may have happened to the chef. Good news, he's still around, and he's the head chef at The Barn.

Actually, that's not good news... that's exceptional news. And it only gets better, because Niseko's premier bar and restaurant management dream team has also stepped up and taken the reins for 2010-2011, assuring that from the moment you walk in, you're sorted for the evening, and will be leaving full and content.

The main dining floor is spacious, and the Dutch gambrel barn-style architecture's high ceilings yield a comfortably cozy yet wide open space, suitable for groups small or large. The French cuisine is exquisite, and the wine selection expansive. Speaking of drinks, while waiting for dinner, or in lieu of it, shoot on upstairs to the bar and enjoy your Niseko night cap in style, with proper cocktails served by a proper barman.

Now we just need to convince a Michelin Guide inspector to schedule a ski holiday... because there's a new star in town. See you at The Barn.

The Barn is NOW OPEN through the end of September!
Tuesday through Sunday 11:30am - 2:00pm
Friday and Saturday 6:00pm - 11:00pm

RAMEN, introduced to Japan from China long, long ago, is a flour noodle dish flavored with meat broth and usually comes in 3 main varieties: Miso (traditional Japanese soybean paste), Shoyu (soy sauce flavoured broth), or Shio (salty broth). Every part of Japan has its own famous ramen that represents the region, but Hokkaido stands high above the rest, representing all 3 to perfection.

MISO GYOZA SHOYU

The newest ramen shop to hit the scene in the Niseko-Kutchan area is Niseko Ramen Mount just north of Homac and MaxValu along the route 5 corridor (MAP). Make sure you stop there AT LEAST ONCE while in Niseko... you'll probably go again the next day for seconds. And remember, nothing goes with ramen better than GYOZA (Chinese pot stickers)!

Open Daily (Closed Mondays)
Lunch 11:30am to 2:00pm
Dinner 5:00pm to 10:00pm or until the soup is gone!
